Commissioning Portraits:

With the advent of photography, portraiture is no longer confined to being merely a literal visual record. I strive to provide my clients with insightful, sympathetic, and stylish images that not only capture a likeness, but also possess inherent value. Prices vary in accordance to the size and complexity of the project. Contact me for an estimate or if you have any questions involving the process.

Procedure:

An initial meeting is held to determine the details such as scheduling, expectations, and style of the work. Next, a photography session is conducted, where a photo will be chosen and approved by the client. Then, the portrait is completed in my studio. Jpegs of the finished portrait will be emailed to you for approval. Upon approval, delivery details are finalized.

Additional charges may include framing, packing, shipping, and travel expenses if required. All additional expenses will be discussed in advance.

FAQs:

What if I’m on a limited budget and/or live out of town?

If meeting in person is impossible, I could potentially work with pre-existing photos, though a photography session is highly recommended and preferred. Usually I suggest forwarding a selection of low-resolution pictures and I'll make my selection from among the group. Once the reference photo is agreed upon, I'll ask you to forward the highest resolution file available.

What should I wear?

You should wear something comfortable that is also 'you.' I recommend avoiding trendy clothes that can make portraits seem dated rather quickly. I also suggest avoiding busy patterns. However, I am one to favor something dramatic if that is in your nature. After all, Madame X was not immortalized for her subtlety.
